KANNUR MURDERS

Yesterday, 62 year old Sri KV Surendran, a Sangh anubhavi was killed when they burst into his house at midnight and cut him down in front of his family.
Till now, 5 Swayamsevaks have been murdered , 18 have been grievously injured , many with lost limbs. The number of houses destroyed is estimate to be 35.
The violence continues unabated.

The CPM has lost two of its workers to retaliatory attacks

The near simultaneous attacks across district started with the ambush on Sri M P Sumesh (38) the Thalasserry Sharirik Pramukh. He was returning from the annual Shivarathri Sewa Nidhi collection and on his way to the Kalathilkoolooth Temple when the CPM goon squad attacked him with hatchets. They cut off his hand and hacked him on his head and feet. He is in the ICU and may pull through.

POLICE TRANSFERS

Setting the stage for the attacks was the mass transfer of Police officials who had maintained a resemblance of impartiality in Kannur.

Officers transfered with in one monthIG - HemachandranSP - Mathew polikarp Manoj AbrahamThalasery ASP- AkberKannur DySP - Habeeb RehmanPanur CI - BalanTelichery- KunhanKuthuparamb-Sasikumar

Here the transfer of SP Manoj Abraham needs special mention. Mr Manoj Abraham within a week of arrival at Kannur last month had rounded up 250 criminals. Mr Manoj had also declared that an earlier murder of a CPM activist Jigesh was carried out by the NDF rather than by the RSS as was widely propagated by the CPM. .Sri Manoj was transferred at the end of the week.
Another officer DYSP Shaukat Ali who was preparing to raid CPM offices at Koothuparambu following the beheading of Mahesh was called back to Thalassery at the last moment by ADGP Jang Pangi for ‘urgent discussions’. Even though Mr Shaukat Ali asked for permission to go ahead with the raids, it was denied. In another incident DYSP Shaukat Ali armed with an automatic weapon was about to enter the CPM Thaluk office at Thalasserry ( which is considered to be the main base of the goon squads)with a large police contingent was stopped at the behest of SP Sreejith and this was followed by a public altercation between the two. Mr Shaukat ali has been since transferred to Panur.

PATTERN OF CPM ATTACKS.

The CPM attacks have a pattern. On one side areas where Sangh swayamsevaks are forced to live in clusters ( similar to ghettos) are attacked by mobs of 100-150 CPM cadres. Simultaneously mobile professional killer squads in vehicles strike at isolated locations without warning. Our Swayamsevaks are able to resist the former mass attacks ( like the one at Diamond junction day before yesterday where they aimed at getting to our Jilla Karyavah Sashi)but we are not able to anticipate the surprise attacks by the professional squads. As hindsight, many of our workers say that they had seen the vehicles in which the killer teams arrived reconnoitering the areas a month ago.

The police who have been deployed in large numbers are deployed to protect the institutions run by the CPM and to bottle up our workers inside our ghettos.

The nature of the injuries inflicted on the victims is seen to be similar. All the victims have cuts to the head , arms and ankles indicating a centralized training and attack plan.

KOTTAYAM THESIS

At the recently concluded state conference of the CPM, the Koothuparambu MLA P Jayarajan brought out a book endorsing the effectiveness of using violence against the RSS. He writes that if violence was used overwhelmingly, the Sangh could be made to crawl. He cites Koothuparambu as an example of this effective technique.

The timing of the attacks which began just a day before the state budget was presented may have been to ensure that the media attention would be concentrated on money matters rather than on the murders.

OUR RESPONSE

Yesterday , on 7th march , Sangh parivar held demonstrations all across the state agains the Marxist violence. In Trivandrum a massive demonstration was held at the Raj Bhavan and a memorandum presented to the Governor requesting him to initiate steps to restore peace .The memorandum also called for a CBI enquiry into the conspiracy behind the violence and that action should be taken immediately against ADGP Jang Pangi who had consciously aided the assailants.

Sangh Adhikaris in Kannur have participated in a discussion about the situation there with the Kannur collector.
